About Maureen

It’s often the smallest moments that shape our greatest journeys. For me, it began with a 15-pound black lab puppy named Oliver—a simple joy we welcomed into our home after becoming empty nesters. Within a year, that wiggly bundle of fur had grown into a 70-pound companion and quietly nudged me onto an entirely new creative path.

I was raised in the quiet woods of rural New England, where nature and wildlife were both my playground and my solace. But it wasn’t until Oliver joined our family that my love for the natural world truly connected with my artistic expression. It was through him that I enrolled in my first drawing class—Pet Lover’s Drawing—and found that art could be as grounding and transformative as a walk through the woods.

Whether walking along sunlit shores of Newport, or riding horseback under the moss-draped oaks of the South, I’ve learned to see the world differently—through the eyes of a dog who never misses a moment  to explore.

Today, my focus is on Equine Art, a passion sparked during my time in Charleston, South Carolina where the Belgian horses that pass by my studio window, their hooves echoing down the cobblestone streets as they carry visitors through the historic city.

I invite you to explore my work at LowcountryArtStudio.com, where you’ll find my Best Friends graphite series, tranquil yet vivid water scenes, and a whimsical collection of Woodland Creatures. Each piece is created with the hope that it brings a smile, a memory, or a moment of peace.

Maureen has exhibited at the Farmington Art Center in Avon, CT. She was selected to curate Paws on Pelham, Newport’s debut dog-friendly boutique inn, with her distinctive work. Her piece Springtime on the Farm took Second Place at the 2024 Bolton, MA Art Fair.

Maureen also curated the Newport Art Studio in Newport, Rhode Island and has her work on display at the Lowcountry Art Studio.
